Bout of Books 16.0: So It Begins

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 9th and runs through Sunday, May 15th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 16 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team
Day One of Bout of Books and I haven't "signed up" or even read anything. Eek.

I love taking part of Bout of Books each year because I think it comes at good timing. I always find that around mid year I hit a lull and never really read anything but this read-a-thon gives me a chance to smash out at least a read or two.

TBR

The Wicked Will Rise by Danielle Paige
End of Days by Susan Ee

I do think that that's being ambitious but I can always aim high right? Rightttt?

Progress

Zilch as of this moment. Will check in again tomorrow.

If you guys are participating let me know!

Happy Reading!

Bout of Books 14.0

Bout of Books
Out of all the read-a-thons I've done I'm pretty sure this round of Bout of Books has been the worse for me. I started out wanting to finish around 3 to 4 books but alas, I only got through 1 and have about 20 pages left for my 2nd book. How appalling is that?!

Books: 1
Black Cairn Point by Claire McFall
Picnic At Hanging Rock by Joan Lindsay

Page Count:  495

I really don't know what to say besides the fact that I clearly did terrible. Hopefully next Bout of Books I read a bit more!

Bout of Books 14.0 TBR

Bout of Books is an annual, low pressure read-a-thon created by Amanda @ On A Book Bender.
Everyday there are different challenges and giveaways hosted on different book blogs to check out as well.
Sign Up Post Here
Dates: August 17th - 23rd

TBR List

I'm trying not to be over-ambitious, keeping my TBR list to just four books. Hopefully I can manage to finish them all, considering three aren't that very long and the fourth being something I can take over to the next week if I don't manage to finish it.

Black Cairn Point by Claire McFall
The DUFF by Kody Keplinger
Picnic At Hanging Rock by Joan Lindsay
The King's Curse by Philippa Gregory

       Bout of Books

Keep an eye out for updates along the way as well as see if I manage to finish the read-a-thon!

Bout of Books 11.0 Wrap Up

Bout of Books

So it's the end of Bout of Books, but I've been so caught today with things happening I haven't had time to film my review. Instead, here's my written wrap up!

Books Read

Page Count
1232 pages

Progress

I feel like every time I take part in Bout of Books, I can never get anything done. I woke up Monday morning nauseous and dizzy, actually staying in bed for 24 hours. I tried to read but only got through 45 pages of World After before feeling like I had to puke again. It was not fun.

I managed to finish World After on Wednesday, and loved every moment of it. It was so intense and exciting, bumping up the series on my favourites list! I started Crown of Midnight and really felt like it was chore reading the first half. I had to push through but once the second part started, I eased right into the story and flew through the action packed storyline.

Friday came around and I finished CoM, but didn't read anything else that day. On Saturday morning I woke up and remembered I had downloaded Dangerous Girls for free so I decided to give it a go. Little did I know, Abigail Haas had me hook, line and sinker. I finished it in 2 hours and could not get enough. I read a little of The Man Called Ove - around 100 pages - but did not finish it, fizzling out on the last day.

Final Thoughts

It was actually a decent effort considering I planned to read 4 books, and finished 3 and a bit. I actually read some pretty amazing books though, which was the best part of this read-a-thon. Hopefully when the next Bout of Books happens again, I won't be held down by life things because that seriously gets annoying.

Talking Personal + Bout Of Books 11.0

Hi guys! If you didn't know, I'm Tracey, and I run this blog. Every month I'll be "Talking Personal" with you guys on what's been happening in my life, exciting announcements, events I'll be participating in and just random stuff I'd like to share!

Daily Life:

  • I've started university again! Three weeks into my second semester and I'm already behind (no surprises there). I'm actually really enjoying uni at the moment, and loving what I'm doing. My study tip: do subjects you like so you don't feel bored out of your brains while in class.
  • I found a new Korean restaurant, Arisoo, with amazing customer service and really great food. It's small but easy to find, and the environment is pleasant. I think my family went a little nuts and ordered way too much food, but it was well worth it. I only snapped a few pics since I was too busy eating.

Location: 285A Victoria St, Abbotsford, VIC 3067
Price Range: ~$15 - $20

  • Part of my preparation for the start of warm weather includes tweaking my computer a bit. I love this desktop because, hello, ice cream. I actually got it from DesignLoveFest where you can find many more designs that are really adorable.

Announcements:

  • Giveaway Winner:
Last month I hosted my first giveaway to celebrate PrintedWordsAnd reaching two years. The giveaway was actually a lot more successful than what I expected. It ended this Monday and now I am going to announce the winner. *Drumroll*

Congratulations Kayleigh, I should've e-mailed you already so hopefully your prize comes soon!

  • Book Sale
Alicia Kobishop's novel The Fine Line will be on sale on the 30th August - her birthday. The novel is available on Kindle at Amazon for 99c. That's actually, really cheap.

Events:

  • BOUT OF BOOKS 11.0
Bout of Books 11.0 is a week long read-a-thon starting on the 18th August and runs until the 25th. (Sign up sheet here). Keep an eye out for updates, but in the meantime check out what I'm reading for the week. Let me know if you're participating as well!

So that's a wrap up for the past 2 weeks of August.

Bout of Books 10.0 Readathon Wrap Up!

IMG_1714

Okay, so I'm taking the lazy way out but I have no time at all to film. Therefore, I'm doing a write-up version of my wrap up.

So Bout of Books 10.0 lasted for a week, running from 12th May to 18th May. I had 4 books in mind that I wanted to tackle, 2 being repeats of my #AYearAThon Readathon that I never managed to get to.

(WATCH HERE FOR MY WRAP-UP OF THAT AND MY BOUT OF BOOKS 10.0 TBR)

I can now tell you guys that I did a terrible job for this readathon. I should be disappointed but I have been so caught up with university and work, I guess that's a good enough reason.

Day #1: I started and got 100 pages into Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass #1) by Sarah J Maas. I was suppose to read this for the #AYearAThon but didn't, so it was first on my list.

Day #2: I don't quite remember my page count for this day, but I do remember being almost at the end of Throne of Glass.

Day #3: Managed to finish off, finally. It took me awhile to read for some reason. I did a mini thought review on Goodreads (here), but will try and do a full review soon!

Day #4: I started The Summer I Turned Pretty (Summer #1) by Jenny Han despite actually planning to read the second book to the Throne of Glass series. I felt like I needed something light to push my number of pages up. Also, Regan of PeruseProject absolutely raved about it!

Day #5: Finished off The Summer I Turned Pretty which was quite enjoyable (again Goodreads mini review here), but I wasn't wowed by it.

Day #6: Read bits and pieces from the other two books I wanted to read. I started Bad Kitty by Michele Jaffe, but jumped back to Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass #2) by Sarah J. Maas. I worked in the morning and was out during the day so I barely managed to get anything done though.

Day #7: I decided to stay with Bad Kitty for awhile because it's humour grew on me, but picked up The Legacy by Katherine Webb. I started that 2 weeks ago and decided I felt like I reading something a little more thought provoking.

Overall:

I ended up finishing 2 books, page counts: 404 + 276 = 680 pages. Then I read bits and pieces of other novels, page counts: 43 + 23 + 30 = 96 pages.

Total: 776 pages. Not too bad of an effort, but I definitely could've done better.

If you took part leave a comment down below telling me how you faired! You probably did better than me.
